The Texas Longhorns have flipped an elite homegrown prospect from Florida two days before the early signing period.

McKinney (Texas) 5-star safety Xavier Filsaime changed his verbal commitment and will instead stay home and play for head coach Steve Sarkisian, 247 Sports reported on Monday.

He committed to Florida in April.

247 Sports is the lone site to give Filsaime, the nation's No. 2 safety, No. 32 overall prospect and No. 7 overall in Texas, a 5-star evaluation.

The early signing period for football opens on Wednesday and closes on Friday.

Filsaime is also a track standout and has run a sub-10 second 100-meter dash.

McKinney went 9-3 and reached the area round of the 6A Division II Texas high school football playoffs, where it lost to Highland Park on a last-second field goal.
