Top Illinois high school basketball team wins at buzzer — again: Look

Homewood-Flossmoor guard Gianni Cobb, a Columbia commit, hits second game-winner over Thornton in a month

All Gianni Cobb had time to do was create separation, catch and release. The Homewood Flossmoor (Illinois) guard let a 3-point attempt go that splashed in to down Thornton on Sunday. 

Thornton led by one with 1.5 seconds left when Cobb, a Columbia commit, flashed out to the 3-point arc and drained a high-arcing shot to lift the Vikings (21-2) to a 65-63 win and send a packed South Holland crowd into a frenzy.

The thriller at the Chelby Frazier Memorial Shootout marks the second time Cobb has beat Thornton (20-3) at the buzzer this season.

On Dec. 29, he had the winning bucked with two seconds left to lift Homewood-Flossmoor, the top-ranked team in Illinois, to a 53-52 win. 

Homewood-Flossmoor is 3-0 in SouthWest Suburban League
