Chipotle Nationals: High school basketball tournament moving to Indiana with new sponsor

Now-former GEICO Nationals will be in Indiana in April; Chipotle announced as title sponsor

The annual postseason invitational for the nation’s best high school basketball teams has a tasty new ring to it.

The tournament formerly known as GEICO Nationals will now be called Chipotle Nationals and is moving to Brownsburg, Indiana, from Fort Myers, Florida, where it was held from 2021-23.

This year’s tournament will be played April 4-6 at Brownsburg High School and will be televised by ESPN. The brackets for the boys and girls are expected to be revealed by ESPN in mid-March.

This isn’t the first time that high school basketball nationals has changed its name and location. The 2024 tournament, the first as Chipotle Nationals and first in Indiana, will be the 15th edition of the postseason invitational, and it has evolved a few times over the years.

The tournament began in 2009 as the National High School Invitational and was originally played in Maryland. In 2014, the tournament picked up Dick’s Sporting Goods as a title sponsor and moved to New York. It was rebranded to GEICO Nationals in 2018 and, following a canceled tournament in 2020 due to COVID, moved to Florida in 2021.

Link Academy (Missouri) won last year's boys tournament, while Montverde Academy (Florida) took home the championship for the girls.

Montverde (28-0) has been the No. 1 ranked boys team in the country since the preseason and Archbishop Mitty is the nation's No. 1 girls team, per the SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25 national basketball rankings.
