Vote for best high school mascot in America, Round 1: Charles Wright Tarriers vs. Beresford Watchdogs

Charles Wright (Washington) is the 1 seed and Beresford (South Dakota) is the 16 seed in the Midwest region

The bracket is set for SBLive Sports' 2024 NCAA Tournament-style contest to determine the best high school mascot in America, and Round 1 is underway.

Vote below for the No. 1-seeded Charles Wright Tarriers (Washington) or the No. 16-seeded Beresford Watchdogs (South Dakota) to advance to the second round, where the winner will face either the Bend Lava Bears (Oregon) or Archie Whirlwinds (Missouri).

The Tarriers earned a 1 seed by piling up 103,408 votes in last fall's Washington contest, while the Watchdogs won South Dakota with just one vote to earn a 16 seed.

No, not the Terriers. “Tarrier” is an Irish/Scotch ethnic stereotype, with one definition meaning a “loiterer” and another saying it’s a kind of railroad worker. 

16. Beresford Watchdogs (South Dakota)

Beresford chose to be different from all the Bulldogs out there by being the only high school in the U.S. to go with Watchdogs. Roger the Watchdog is even known to get festive during the holidays
