Connor Warren repeats as NCHSAA 1-A boys golf state champion, leads Mitchell to team title

Warren wins by 14 shots and has second best score in NCHSAA history

PINEHURST, NORTH CAROLINA—Connor Warren of Mitchell captured his second straight NCHSAA 1-A state golf championship on Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 6, finishing with a two-day total of 11-under par 133 and winning by 14 shots.

Warren shot a blistering 7-under 65 in Monday’s first round and followed that up with a 4-under 68 in the final round.

Warren’s two-day total is the second-best score in NCHSAA history behind only current PGA Tour member J.T. Poston, who shot a 131 at Foxfire in 2011.

Mitchell also took home the team championship, its first in school history, winning the team title by 10 shots over South Stanly.
