Lake Norman Charter downs Northwood to win second straight NCHSAA 3A/2A/1A boys lacrosse state title

Jack Dalton named MVP after scoring five goals and adding two assists

DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA – Lake Norman Charter downed Northwood 19-8 to win its second straight NCHSAA 3A/2A/1A boys lacrosse state championship.

MVP Jack Dalton came out of the gates hot and scored the first three goals of the game. The Knights ultimately opened the game on a 7-0 run to take control of the game. Senior Jack Rombough added two goals in the period and juniors Brady Kester and Riley Cerosky each pitched in one. Northwood’s Taylor Laberge ended the run with a goal in final minute of the first period.

The Knights kept the accelerator on the floor through the next two periods as they outscored the Chargers 10-4 in the second and third quarters. Dalton finished the game with five goals and two assists. Tyler Price, Rombough and Kester each added a hattrick for Lake Norman Charter. Price and Luke Thompson also recorded a pair of assists.

Northwood made its first title game appearance on Saturday and ended the 2023 campaign with a record of 18-4.

For the Chargers, Laberge tallied three goals and Will Smith scored twice and assisted on three more. Carson Fortunes also scored a pair of goals.
