Dionte Neal, Jaire Richburg and Ashton Pierce help fuel Team CP3 15U to Peach Jam Championship
Dionte Neal's impressive beginning to his high school athletic career added another feat on his resume over the weekend.
Neal, who led Reidsville to the NCHSAA 2-A state championship football and basketball games his freshman year, poured in 15 points and had seven assists to lead Team CP3 15U to the EYBL Peach Jam Championship on Sunday in Augusta, Georgia.
Team CP3 went 6-1 in the banner event on the Nike EYBL Circuit, winning the championship game 61-49 over City Rocks. Its only loss came in Pool Play against The Family, an 83-80 defeat.
Neal had a standout tournament, averaging 14.1 points, 7.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. In six of his seven games, he had at least seven assists, with his lowest total of five coming against Team WhyNot.
Teammate Jaire Richburg (East Forsyth) led Team CP3 in scoring in the event, averaging 16.3 points per game. Richburg also collected 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game and scored 20 or more points in three games, including 25 in the team's semifinal win against the Georgia Stars. The left-hander also showed his lockdown defensive prowess throughout the tournament.
Ashton Pierce (North Mecklenburg) was right on Richburg's heels, averaging 16 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game during Peach Jam.
Coleman Cloer of Orange also produced solid numbers for Team CP3, averaging 12 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
