Grimsley 4-star receiver Alex Taylor commits to North Carolina

Taylor becomes the eighth in-state commitment for the Tar Heels

GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA--Alex Taylor has announced that he will continue his football career at the University of North Carolina.

Taylor, a four-star wide receiver at Grimsley, made his commitment decision on Saturday in the football stadium at his high school.

Taylor, at 6-2, 175, is one of the state's top receivers and has been ranked as the No. 3 overall college prospect in the state by several recruiting services.

Taylor was considering offers among his five finalists of UNC, North Carolina State, Clemson, Penn State and Virginia Tech.

Taylor had 65 catches for 1,034 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior last season, teaming with fellow 1,000-yard receiver Terrell Anderson for a formidable 1-2 punch for the Whirlies.

Grimsley finished the 2023 season 15-1, losing 40-28 to New Bern in the NCHSAA 4-A state championship game.

Taylor also excels at basketball for the Whirlies. He averaged 7.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists last season.
