Hough kicker Nolan Hauser breaks national high school field goal record

Hough kicker and Clemson commit boots 48-yarder in third quarter in win against North Mecklenburg

Nolan Hauser is in a class of his own for high school field goal kickers.

Hauser, a senior at Hough who has committed to Clemson, kicked a 48-yard field goal during the third quarter of the Huskies' 52-7 win over North Mecklenburg on Sept. 14 to establish a new national record.

The field goal, Hauser's only one in the game, was the 57th of his career and broke the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) record of 56 that was previously held by Cole Hedlund of Argyle High School in Argyle, Texas.

Hauser tied the record two weeks ago in dramatic fashion, kicking the game-winning field goal in a 20-17 win against Dutch Fork (South Carolina), the reigning 5-A state champions.

Hauser broke the state record of 52 career field goals in North Carolina as a junior in the 2022 season during a fourth-round 4-A playoff game against Grimsley and finished last season with 54 career field goals.
