Vote: Who should be SBLive’s North Carolina High School Baseball Player of the Week (3/6/2023)?
We have 10 players nominated this week for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Baseball Player of the Week from Feb. 26-March 2, our first Baseball Player of the Week poll of the 2024 season. We ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 10 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.
Here are this week's nominees:
Baines Raynor, East Duplin
The sophomore standout had a major impact in East Duplin’s 7-2 victory over Richlands. Raynor was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and a pair of steals. On the mound, he allowed two hits with no earned runs while striking out eight in six innings.
Garrett Manning, Scotland
Manning hurled a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Scots edged Purnell Swett 3-1.
Ayden Gore, North Brunswick
Gore smashed a home run, tripled and drove in two runs in the Scorpions’ 11-1 romp over Wilmington Christian Academy.
Ethan Colletti, Cape Fear
Colletti had three hits, three RBIs and a pair of stolen bases as the Colts opened the 2024 season with a 17-7 win over Southern Lee.
Brody Little, Trinity
Little was 3-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBIs as the Bulldogs whipped Salisbury 9-1. Later in the week, he had two hits and an RBI in a 9-7 win over Asheboro.
Hudson Lance, Wesleyan Christian Academy
Lance pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts over five innings and was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs as the nationally ranked Trojans blanked Chelsea (Ala,) 10-0.
Jojo Ferebee, Arendell Parrott Academy
Ferebee allowed two hits and a run in four innings with five strikeouts while going 2-for-4 as the Patriots beat Goldsboro 7-2.
Tyler Rotellini, Wakefield
Rotellini was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as Wakefield beat Panther Creek 14-2. He also pitched a one-hitter over five innings with six strikeouts in a 5-0 blanking of Falls Lake.
