Grace Christian’s Sarah Strong named Naismith Girls Basketball Player of the Year
ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The news broke on Friday afternoon but the outcome had been anticipated long before because of her play this season.
Grace Christian’s Sarah Strong was selected as the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
"I am humbled to be recognized as the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Winner," Strong said. " would like to thank God for blessing me and I thank the selection committee for recognizing me and the other amazing finalists who are elevating the sport we love. I am grateful for my family & their continued support. I would also like to recognize every coach and teammate who has contributed to my basketball journey, from those in my earliest days at Club Baloncesto Alcobendas in Spain to my current teammates at The Strong Center & Grace Christian School in Sanford, NC. Muchísimas gracias!"
It was a season to remember for Strong and her teammates. The senior helped lead the Crusaders to a 30-0 record and third consecutive state championship. Her statistics spoke for themselves as she averaged 21.0 points, 16.7 rebounds 4.6 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.
Grace Christian has won 41 straight games overall and have compiled a 91-4 mark over the last three seasons.
