Dru DeShields scores twice in fourth quarter to lead West Branch past Salem, 48-38
BELOIT, Ohio – Senior quarterback Dru DeShields scored two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to lead West Branch to a 48-38 win over Salem Saturday night.
The Warriors were down 38-35 with just under eight minutes left in the game, but Beau Alazaus and Hudson Brink came up with key interceptions and DeShields made sure West Branch took advantage of the turnovers.
To go with his two rushing touchdowns, DeShields was 20-of-29 passing for 320 yards and two touchdown throws.
Salem quarterback Jackson Johnson threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns and also scored a rushing touchdown that gave the Quakers their 38-35 fourth quarter lead.
Both teams will now begin their postseasons on Friday, October 28 in Division IV, Region 13. West Branch – the region’s top seed – will host Field, while Salem will be on the road to face Canton South.
