Darryn Peterson is the fans' choice as SBLive national boys basketball player of the year
Darryn Peterson is widely viewed as one of the best sophomores in the nation.
Last week readers chose the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy superstar as national high school boys basketball player of the year if the season ended today.
Peterson earned 48,266 votes (46.9%), going back and forth all week with Link Academy (Missouri) senior Ja'Kobe Walter, who finished second with 44,243 votes (42.9%).
Earlier this season, he broke the CVCA school record for points in a game by scoring 51 points in a win over Tuslaw, and he fought back tears in a win he dedicated to his late grandmother.
The 6-foot-5 guard is averaging 31.5 points per game this season and is ranked the No. 4 sophomore prospect in the nation by the 247Sports Composite.
