Ohio high school football playoffs Division VI roundup: Mineral Ridge and Wynford among winners in first round (10/27/2023)
The Ohio High School Athletic Association playoffs began Friday night with 448 teams vying for a state championship across seven divisions, with 64 teams in each divisions broken into 16 teams per region.
In Division VI, the top four seeds in each region - Kirtland, Rootstown, Mogadore, Hanoverton United, Columbus Grove, Bluffton, Colonel Crawford, Carey, Garaway, West Jefferson, Fort Frye, Northmor, Williamsburg, Versailles, Cincinnati Country Day and West Liberty-Salem all advanced to the next round with home wins and will host again in the second round.

First round games of note:
Mineral Ridge 35, Jackson-Milton 6
Mineral Ridge, the No. 10 seed in Region 21, led 28-0 at halftime and scored the game's first 35 points.
Ian Erb scored four touchdowns for Mineral Ridge - three on the ground and one on a reception.
Mineral Ridge will travel to No. 2 Rootstown in the second round.
Wynford 31, Tinora 28, OT
Wynford kicked a field goal on its possession of overtime and then recovered a fumble inside the 5-yard-line on defense to end the game.
Tinora, the No. 7 seed in Region 22, scored with 41 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 28-28.
Wynford, seeded No. 10, scored a pair of touchdowns in a span of four minutes in the fourth quarter to turn a 21-14 deficit into a 28-21 lead.
