Taylyn Banta, Archbishop Hoban

A junior varsity player last year at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, the sophomore brings offensive stability to a team that lives on defensive chaos.

Rylee Bess, Pickerington Central

A high-energy player who uses her quickness and athleticism very well. She helped the Tigers win their eighth consecutive district title last year before a Division I state semifinal loss to Olmsted Falls.

Emily Bratton, Bloom-Carroll

The Miami (Ohio) University signee averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists to earn conference and District Player of the Year honors on her way to being named 1st Team All-Ohio in Division II.

Sidney Butera, Strongsville

Rated as the No. 3 freshman in Ohio by Prep Girls Hoops, she made her varsity debut by scoring 19 first-half points in a victory over John Hay.

Corniya Clay, Toledo Central Catholic

One of two returning starters for the Irish, the senior will be needed to use her on-ball defense and her ability to drive until other players step forward.

Ariyana Cradle, Westerville South

The sophomore already has a few Power 5 offers, as she averaged 15.4 points last year and was named Special Mention All-Ohio in Division I.

Sinai Douglas, Start

Perhaps the best pure point guard in the state, she was a finalist for Ohio Ms. Basketball last year after averaging 16.8 points per game, and she has signed to play at Michigan State. However, she suffered a knee injury recently and is lost for the season.

Nicci Finazzo, Gilmour Academy

A true point guard in the sense that she is more interested in handling and distributing the ball than she is in scoring, earning her Honorable Mention All-Ohio laurels in Division II.

Alyssa Geiser, Waynedale

After helping Waynedale to consecutive Division III final four appearances in 2021 and 2022, last year she averaged 11 points per game to earn Special Mention All-Ohio honors.

Anna Habra, Mason

She is adept not only at running the offense, but also at scoring from both inside and out, helping her become Ohio’s top-ranked point guard in the sophomore class, according to Prep Girls Hoops.

Caitlyn Holmes, Ellet

The junior averaged 20 points per game last year to earn 2nd Team All-Ohio honors in Division I, and she recently committed to Kent State.

Breayah Jefferson, Rogers

She averaged 20.8 points per game last year to lead the Toledo City League, earning Special Mention All-Ohio honors in Division II.

Sa’Mahn Johnson, Reynoldsburg

A big riser this past offseason in player rankings, she has the ability to either shoot over defenders or blow by them.

D.C. Lanier, Port Clinton

Committed to playing at Siena Heights University next year, the 5-foot-2 playmaker averaged 18.7 points per game last year and earned Special Mention All-Ohio honors in Division II.

Ashley Mullett, Berlin Hiland

The senior earned 2nd Team All-Ohio honors in Division IV, leading her team to its record 20th final four appearance while averaging 16.7 points per game.

Isabelle Niederst, Elyria Catholic

A Tiffin signee, she has been Elyria Catholic’s starting point guard since her freshman year, although this year she has taken on more of a scoring role.

Whitney Stafford, Lewis Center Olentangy

A young player whose talent is just beginning to surface, the sophomore averaged 16.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists last year while playing both point and shooting guard for the Braves. She was Honorable Mention All-District in Division I, and Kent State and Toledo have already made offers.

Brooklynn Vickers, Brush

In the past she has been more of a scoring point guard, but this year she has some outstanding young scorers to share the ball with. Last year she averaged 17.3 points and was named Honorable Mention All-Ohio in Division I. She recently announced her decision to play next year at Notre Dame College.

Joi Williams, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy

The junior will probably have to take on more of a scoring role this year, as much of the team’s offense graduated. But in earning Honorable Mention All-Ohio laurels by averaging 12.6 points, she showed she can score from the outside as well as attack the basket.

Sophia Wilson, Magnificat

A starter since her freshman year, the junior runs the offense but also hit 42% of her attempts from beyond the 3-point arc last year.
