Ohio high school girls basketball: Meet the state’s best combo guards for the 2023-24 season
With fall sports in the rearview mirror, the high school basketball season is finally here.
SBLive Sports is highlighting some of the best players in Ohio heading into the winter season.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a position-by-position look at some of the best of the best in high school girls basketball. We started with point guards and are now moving on to combo guards.
Here are 20 of the best all-around guards in Ohio entering the 2023-24 high school girls basketball season.

Mackenzie Blackford, Solon
The Duquesne signee is a bundle of energy on the court, making better than 39% of her 3-point attempts last year. In earning third team All-Ohio honors, she averaged 19.1 points per game.
Gigi Bower, Olentangy Liberty
An excellent outside shooter, the Ohio University signee was named 2nd Team All-Ohio last year in Division I after averaging 16.1 points per game.
Kendall Braden, Toledo Christian
The Toledo commit had a season last year that will be hard to top. She was the MVP of her conference for the second consecutive year, she was the district player of the year, and she led her team to a Division IV state runner-up finish, averaging 22.4 points per game and being named 1st Team All-Ohio.
Izzy Callaway, Copley
The Walsh University commit is equally adept at shooting from the outside or taking the ball to the rim. She averaged 18.8 points per game last year and was named 2nd Team All-Ohio in Division II.
Danielle Cameron, Olmsted Falls
An excellent outside shooter who averaged 15.3 points and was named Special Mention All-Ohio in Division I. The Youngstown State signee set state tournament records last year for most 3-pointers in a Division I state championship game with six and the most in two games with 12.
Megan Campbell, Massillon Jackson
The Tiffin commit missed much of last year due to injury, but she was instrumental in helping the Polar Bears reach the Division I final four in 2022.
JoJo Eberhart, Marysville
The left-hander was named 1st Team All-Ohio in Division I despite averaging just 10 points per game. She is tall for a guard, which she uses to her advantage on both ends of the floor.
Mari Gerton, Princeton
The junior who averaged 12.9 points last year was at her best in her team’s Division I state semifinal victory over Grafton Midview, scoring 25 points to lead the eventual state champions.
Brooke Haren, Louisville
The senior averaged 15.8 points per game last year and was named Special Mention All-Ohio in Division I.
Erica King, St. Vincent-St. Mary
A defensive specialist since her freshman year at Hoban, the Youngstown State signee averaged 10.1 points last year and was named Special Mention All-Ohio in Division II.
Olivia Klanac, Medina
A junior with an offer from Ashland, she averaged 16 points per game last year and was named Special Mention All-Ohio. Earlier this season she tied a school record with 36 points in a victory over North Ridgeville.
Katie Maryo, Magnificat
One of the most accurate outside shooters in the state, she made 49% of her 3-point attempts last year.
Chaniyra McDowell-Isaacs, Brush
One of two highly-ranked freshmen in Brush’s starting lineup, she is one of three players averaging in double figures for the Arcs.
Addesa Miller, Waynedale
The senior can score from all over the court, but she is especially adept at taking the ball to the rim. She averaged 12.8 points last year and was named Special Mention All-Ohio in Division III.
Jayda Mosley, Purcell Marian
A deadly shooter, the Youngstown State signee made 38% of her shots from beyond the 3-point arc and 94% of her free throws while averaging 9.9 points for the two-time state champions.
Peyton Mounce, Urbana
An exceptional athlete with good length, she was the MVP of the Central Buckeye Conference last year as a sophomore.
Alli Robertson, Harrison
Two years into her high school career the junior was just 54 points shy of 1,000 points. She averaged 23.4 points and 10.6 rebounds last year and was named Special Mention All-Ohio in Division I.
Destiny Robinson, Fremont Ross
The senior averaged 16.1 points per game last year and was named 2nd Team All-Ohio in Division I.
Corri Vermilya, Loudonville
A finalist for the Ohio Ms. Basketball award last year, the Ashland signee averaged 29.5 points per game and was named the Division III state player of the year.
Sophie Ziel, Watterson
Sophie Ziel, Watterson: Good on both ends of the floor, the junior is getting some Division II interest as she averaged 19.4 points per game last year and was named Special Mention All-Ohio.
