Ohio high school boys basketball: Meet the state’s best post players for the 2023-24 season
With fall sports in the rearview mirror, the high school basketball season is finally here.
SBLive Sports is highlighting some of the best players in Ohio heading into the winter season.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a position-by-position look at some of the best of the best in high school boys basketball. We started with ppoint guards, combo guards, wings and forwards and now we will finish up with the post players.
Here are 20 of the best post players in Ohio entering the 2023-24 high school boys basketball season.

A.J. Austin-Robinson, Anderson, junior
Austin-Robinson, who stands 6-foot-6, has emerged as one of the top players in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.
Alex Bruskotter, Shelby, senior
The 6-foot-7 Bruskotter was second-team all-state last season when he averaged 21 points, 5.2 assists, 8.6 assists and 1.7 steals. He has signed with Wright State.
Raleigh Burgess, Sycamore, senior
A Purdue commit, Burgess averaged 11 points and six rebounds as a sophomore and 14 points and 9.5 rebounds a season ago when he missed part of the season with a leg injury and made special mention all-state.
Logan Forbes, Cloverleaf, senior
A Malone-signee, the 6-foot-8 Forbes was honorable mention all-state in Division II last season when he averaged 17.3 points.
Kraig Gilbert, Grove City, senior
After averaging 11 points and six rebounds and shooting 57.5 percent from the floor last winter, the 6-foot-8 Gilbert signed with Concord.
Andrew Hoerner, Miamisburg, junior
The 6-foot-7 Hoerner averaged 13 points and 8.5 rebounds while earning special mention all-state honors in Division I last season.
Deandre Jones, Garfield Heights, senior
The 6-foot-9 Jones has signed with Kent State.
Alex Kendall, Marietta, senior
Standing at 6-foot-8, Kendall averaged 15 points and seven rebounds while making first-team all-Southeast District and special mention all-state in Division II last season.
Jack Knapke, Marion Local, senior
Knapke, who is 6-foot-9, averaged 13 points and was third-team all-state in Division IV last season.
Tyler Kropp, Olentangy Liberty, junior
Standing at 6-foot-9, Kropp has been offered by a list of schools that includes Indiana State, Miami and Radford and is a member of Argentina’s junior national team.
Blake Krznaric, Pymatuning Valley, senior
The 6-foot-6 Krznaric averaged 15 points and earned special mention recognition in Division III a season ago.
Anrico Lewis, Riverview East, senior
While helping the Hawks go 21-2 and win the CMAC-Blue last season, the 6-foot-5 Lewis averaged 8.5 points and seven rebounds.
Jesse McCulloch, Lutheran East, senior
This 6-9 standout is among the top players in the 2024 class and has signed with Michigan State. He averaged 17 points and was second-team all-state in Division III last season.
Walter Plantz, Genoa Area, sophomore
During his freshman season, the 6-foot-6 Plantz averaged 13.8 points, seven rebounds and 2.5 blocks as the Comets won 16 games.
Alex Reese, Martins Ferry, junior
Reese, who is 6-foot-5, was special mention all-state in Division III when he averaged 22.1 points a season ago.
Sean Register, Eastlake North, senior
Register, who became the program’s all-time leading scorer earlier this winter, was special mention all-state in Division I last season when he averaged 28 points.
Trent Taylor, Vincent Warren, senior
The 6-foot-7 Taylor averaged 13 points and was special mention all-state in Division II last season as the Warriors went 18-7.
Bailey Temming, Franklin Bishop Fenwick, senior
An honorable mention all-state honoree in Division II last season, Temming is 6-foot-10 and averaged 10 rebounds a year ago as well.
Charlie Uhl, Archbishop Alter, junior
The 6-foot-8 Uhl averaged five rebounds a season ago.
Braylin Wells, Pickerington Central, senior
Wells is a 6-foot-7 senior and the top returnee for the Tigers after they won the 2022 Division I state championship and were state runners-up last winter.
