Mustang downs Yukon in 50th anniversary of the 'Canadian County Bedlam' game
MUSTANG, OKLAHOMA – The Canadian County Bedlam rivalry reached its 50th anniversary Friday night when Mustang and Yukon faced off at Bronco Stadium.
The Broncos did their best to honor the anniversary by almost reaching the 50-point mark as they pummeled the Millers, 49-21. It was Mustang’s sixth straight victory in the series.
Mustang quarterback Trajan Williamson spearheaded the attack by completing 12-of-13 passes for 185 yards and two touchdown passes. He also added 105 yards and two more scores on 12 carries.
It was the Millers’ offense who started the game on fire. They took their opening possession 80 yards and scored on a Kee Holden touchdown pass to Kennison Rogers to go up 7-0.
However, MHS answered with its own 80-yard drive. It was Williamson who put the Broncos on the board with a short touchdown run.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound bulldozer added a second touchdown on their ensuing possession to take a 14-7 lead.
Yukon tried to respond, but MHS safety Zach Warren picked off Holden at the 35-yard line with 2:22 left in the first quarter. That led to sophomore Jaden Johnson’s first TD catch of the night, a 35-yard streak down the right side of the field past the YHS defenders and into the end zone.
The Millers had a chance to stop the Broncos’ momentum when they drove down to the MHS 1-yard line. But on fourth-and-1, Warren struck again as he snuck into the backfield for the tackle for loss at the 3-yard line to stop the drive.
Mustang then went back to Johnson for his second touchdown catch from Williamson and a 28-7 advantage with 3:21 left in the half.

Johnson finished the first half with four catches for 120 yards and two trips into the end zone. He didn’t play in the second half.
Tailback Bryance Sanders put Mustang up, 35-7, with a short TD run right before halftime. Freshman Taven Brown scored twice in the second half, which included a 62-yard breakaway touchdown run.
That was all the Broncos' defense needed as they held the Millers scoreless until Lucan Jones caught a touchdown pass with 4:05 left in the game. Despite giving up 400 total yards, Mustang's pressure forced three turnovers.
Mustang (4-0) will travel to Owasso to face the Rams on Sept. 29. Yukon (1-4) returns home to face Tulsa Union.
