Oklahoma high school football computer rankings (10/17/2023)
With the Oklahoma high school football season in full swing, SBLive Sports has released its latest 2023 Oklahoma high school football computer rankings for every classification.
We will continue to release our computer rankings weekly for the duration of the season.
There is no significant change at the top of the higher classifications, as every team that was ranked No. 1 last week remains there this week.
Bixby continues to be solid in Class 6AI, and Muskogee continues to lead 6AII. The only team to defeat the Roughers all season, Midwest City Carl Albert, tops five undefeated teams at No. 1 in 5A.
Poteau continues to remain at the top in 4A, with the undefeated Pirates ahead of Wagoner and Ada, all at 7-0. The same holds true in 3A, with Lincoln Christian ahead of Heritage Hall and Marlow, all with 7-0 records. Washington, also at 7-0, remains at the top of 2A.
SBLive's formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
