Pirates roll past Cougars in showdown between undefeated teams for district championship

POTEAU, OKLAHOMA - In a showdown between undefeated teams and a district title on the line, it was all Poteau

The Pirates led from start to finish as they won their sixth straight District 4A-4 championship after defeating Ada, 40-7, Friday night at Costner Stadium.

Poteau (9-0, 6-0) built a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a touchdown run from Dax Collins and a field goal from Ethan McBee. Ada (8-1, 5-1) scored a touchdown to pull within three points, but Poteau extended the lead later in the second quarter on a TD run from Jackson Sommers and a safety to go up, 19-7, at halftime.

The Pirates then poured it on in the third quarter, scoring three unanswered TDs.
