The holiday season is upon us, but before we look ahead to 2024, we look back at some of the best individual performances near the end of 2023. 

Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Week for Dec. 18-24. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. If you would like to nominate an athlete, email athleteoftheweek@scorebooklive.com or tag us on Twitter. 

Roman Miller, Mustang boys basketball

As a junior, Miller was named to the all-tournament team of the Bishop Kelley Tournament after averaging 18 points and six rebounds through three games.

Cam Hainrihar, Piedmont boys basketball

In a nip and tuck game against Putnam City North, that Piedmont won by two, Hainrihar led the way, scoring 18 points and grabbing three rebounds.

Carlsheon Young, Midwest City boys basketball

In a game in which the Bombers dominated Noble, Young - an Oklahoma State commit - finished with 38 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Kaidon Rayfield, Putnam City West boys basketball

The four-star forward, who has multiple Division I offers, helped his team build momentum heading into Christmas break. He had 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks.

Julius Wilson, Holland Hall boys basketball

In a cross-town clash against Victory Christian, the Dutch got a 50-41 win. Wilson led the way, scoring 18 points.

Reid Cason, Kingston boys basketball

The 6-foot-10 senior finished the fall semester with a dominant double-double performance in a statement win over Silo. Cason finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

Keisean Shields, Atoka boys basketball

In the championship game of the Wilburton Tournament, the senior guard scored 29 points, had 10 rebounds, six steals and added four assists.

Brett Howry, Garber boys basketball

In his first game back after being injured to start the year, Howry scored 20 points, knocking down six 3-pointers in a win.

Talia Vann, Bethany girls basketball

In a win to close out the semester, Vann got an impressive 15-point, 11-rebound double-double to get the Lady Bronchos yet another victory.

Kadynce Delt, Howe girls basketball

After getting a 56-37 win over Central Sallisaw on Dec. 19, Howe improved to 8-0 on the season. That win was thanks in large part to Delt, who finished with 27 points. Nineteen of those points were scored in the second half.

Oscar Williams, Edmond North boys wrestling

In the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dual Classic, Edmond North almost got a win over one of the best teams in the nation after Williams got a fall over late in the match.

Ishmael Guerrero, Bixby boys wrestling

Guerrero committed to further his wrestling career at Oklahoma State University and later picked up a nationally ranked win at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dual Classic.

Kelcie Avallone, Pawhuska girls wrestling

At 115 pounds, Avallone was the champion of the Cleveland Tournament.
