Oklahoma high school boys basketball Top 25 rankings (1/17/2024)

Top two remain intact in Edmond North and Owasso; CCS has player hit 1,000 points

With bad weather postponing games and tournaments coming up later in the week, several teams keep winning games and are trying to peak in the upcoming playoffs.

Here is this week's SBLive Oklahoma Top 25 boys basketball rankings.

Note: Rankings and records are from games through Jan. 17

1. Edmond North (10-2); last week (1)

Edmond North suffered two losses last week in the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions in Springfield, Missouri. But the Huskies remain the top ranked team, because of the top caliber opponents they played. They won their first game by 20 points over Rainer Beach (Washington). But the Huskies lost to a talented St. John Bosco (California) squad, 69-61, and lost, 61-59, in a heartbreaking loss to McEachern (Georgia).

2. Owasso (11-2); last week (2)

Owasso continues to roll, as they won on the road at U.S. Grant last Friday, 74-20. They locked down on defense and only allowed two points in the first quarter. The Rams were supposed to play at Enid Tuesday, but it was postponed due to the weather.

Up next, Owasso looks to defend its title this week in the Bill Hanson Memorial Tournament in Pittsburg, Kansas.

3. Dale (17-2); last week (3)

Dayton Forsythe was nominated for a McDonald’s All American last week. Dale has not played a basketball game since last week, but remains one of the top teams in Oklahoma. The Knights had a statement win over Guthrie Tuesday with a huge fourth quarter. Last Friday, CCS went on the road to Elgin and won, 64-37. 5. Weatherford (15-1); last week (5)

Weatherford crushed Altus last Friday, with a 91-18 win. Their lone loss comes to OKC Crossings Christian in the Tournament of Champions, but the Eagles have looked flawless since that loss. 6. Edmond Deer Creek (11-3) last week; (7)

The Antlers moved up one spot due to Edmond Memorial losing last week, but the Antlers have looked great. They pummeled Capitol Hill, 90-19, and won a tough road game at Norman North, 65-53, Tuesday. Deer Creek looks to defend its title in its home tournament, the Bruce Gray Invitational.
