Oklahoma high school girls basketball Top 25 rankings (2/15/2024)
With the regular season winding down, there remained no serious movement in this week's SBLive Oklahoma girls basketball Top 25.
The top 10 teams remain intact from last week's list, with the two highest-ranked squads completing perfect regular seasons.
Here are this week's statewide rankings.
1. El Reno (23-0); last week (1)
The Lady Indians finished off their perfect regular season with a pair of double-digit wins over the past week, beating Guthrie (52-40) and then Shawnee on El Reno's Senior Night (43-28). El Reno now gets to enjoy more than a week off before starting its postseason journey on Feb. 23, hosting a 5A West Regional championship game against the winner between Guymon and Altus.
2. Choctaw (22-0); last week (2)
Before Feb. 13, the Lady Yellowjackets never achieved a perfect regular season. But on that night, they were able to do so after getting past Jenks, 53-35. Choctaw will now host a 6A East Regional, playing U.S. Grant in the opening round on Tuesday.
3. Bethany (19-4); last week (3)
The Lady Bronchos enter the 4A playoffs on a roll, having won their last 10 ballgames, capped by an 85-21 win against Oklahoma Christian School earlier this week. They will be at home for their district playoff, taking on Clinton Friday night.
4. Putnam City West (21-1); last week (4)
Before the Lady Patriots could think about the playoffs, they wanted to get some payback first. They got that with a 57-35 win against Edmond Santa Fe on Feb. 9, avenging their only defeat of the season. PC West now gets set to host a 6A West regional tournament, which begins Tuesday against Capitol Hill.
5. Edmond North (20-1); last week (5)
The Lady Huskies will also host a 6A West regional next week, starting with an opening-round game Tuesday against Northwest Classen. But Edmond North will be one of the very few large-school teams in action later this week, closing out the regular season on Friday with a game against crosstown foe Santa Fe.
6. Tahlequah (22-1); last week (6)
Tahlequah has reeled off 15 straight wins entering the playoffs, but its last win was perhaps the most important, as the Lady Tigers clinched their district title with a 71-67 win against Tulsa Booker T. Washington on Feb. 13. The Lady Tigers will host a 5A East regional, starting on Tuesday with a first-round game against Tulsa Edison.
7. Idabel (21-1); last week (7)
The Lady Warriors enter postseason play having won 18 straight games, capped by a 76-54 win against Pocola on Feb. 10. Idabel also drew a bye in its district playoff, and won't play again until Feb. 22, when the Lady Warriors will host a regional semifinal contest.
8. Lincoln Christian (19-3); last week (8)
The Lady Bulldogs avenged a one-point loss to Glenpool by besting the Lady Warriors on Feb. 13 in Tulsa, winning 51-39. Lincoln Christian opens the 4A playoffs on Saturday with a district playoff at Harrah.
9. Edmond Memorial (19-3); last week (9)
Edmond Memorial also goes into the 6A postseason red-hot, winning its final eight regular-season games. On Feb. 13, the Lady Bulldogs won at Tulsa Union, 52-27. They will be at home for a 6A East regional tournament, which starts Tuesday with a first-round game against Southmoore.
10. Dale (24-1); last week (10)
The Lady Pirates survived a pair of road games to finish out the regular season, winning 49-46 at Latta on Feb. 9 and 54-42 at Cashion three nights later. Dale will be at home for its 2A district playoff on Saturday, facing Mounds.
11. Midwest City (20-3); last week (11)
Another team seeking to make noise in the 5A playoffs are the Lady Bombers, winners of nine straight games. They scored 92 points in their regular-season finale, a decisive win against Oklahoma City Southeast. Midwest City will host a 5A West regional, starting with a first-round game Tuesday against Western Heights.
12. Washington (20-3); last week (12)
Washington survived its regular-season finale, holding off rival Purcell, 61-57, on Feb. 12. The Lady Warriors can now concentrate on the 3A playoffs, and after drawing a bye from districts, will play at home on Feb. 22 in a regional semifinal.
13. Midwest City Carl Albert (19-4); last week (13)
The Lady Titans go into the playoffs having won six straight games, the latter a 62-35 win against Altus on Feb. 13. They will get to host a 5A West regional tournament, and will play a first-round game Tuesday against OKC Southeast.
14. Sapulpa (18-5); last week (15)
Don't count out the defending Class 5A state champions, as the Lady Chieftains have found their groove entering postseason play. They posted three convincing wins within the past week, handling McAlester, Tulsa Edison and Holland Hall with ease. Sapulpa will be at home for a 6A East regional, starting with a game on Feb. 22 against Claremore.
15. Glenpool (19-3); last week (14)
Glenpool dropped its regular season finale, falling to Lincoln Christian, 51-39 after having beaten the Lady Bulldogs earlier this season. But it's possible the two could meet again in the 4A state tournament, as Lincoln was ranked No. 2 and Glenpool No. 3. The Lady Warriors will have their 4A district playoff this Friday in McLoud.
16. Seiling (20-3); last week (17)
Seiling started its Class A postseason in grand style with a 76-18 win against Mooreland in last week's district championship game. The Lady Wildcats move on to the regional semifinals, where they will be at home Thursday to take on Thomas-Fay-Custer.
17. Classen SAS (17-6); last week (20)
The Lady Comets picked up a huge late regular-season win on Feb. 8, cooling off a red-hot Riverside squad, 62-49. They've now won nine straight games as they get set to play a 4A district playoff Saturday in Cache.
18. Mustang (17-6); last week (19)
Mustang recorded a pair of solid wins to close out the regular season, winning 57-40 against Moore and 71-49 against Norman North. The Lady Broncos will open up a 6A West regional Tuesday in Yukon against Lawton Eisenhower.
19. Riverside (22-3); last week (16)
The Lady Braves saw their 13-game win streak snapped by Classen SAS. But they enter the playoffs ranked No. 2 in 2A, and will start postseason play Saturday with a district playoff at Hinton.
20. Sand Springs (17-6); last week (18)
Sand Springs dropped a 59-44 decision to a surging Edmond Memorial team on Feb. 8 but rebounded with two strong wins, 64-25 against U.S. Grant and 55-39 against Bartlesville. The Lady Sandites will travel to Broken Arrow for a 6A East regional tournament, which starts Tuesday with a first-round game against Ponca City.
21. Dover (24-2); last week (21)
Dover started its Class B postseason in a big way, rolling past Prue, 74-33, to win its district playoff. The Lady Longhorns will face Olive Thursday night in Calumet for a regional semifinal contest.
22. Inola (20-3); last week (22)
The Lady Longhorns could be the last team left standing in Class 4A. They're ready for the playoffs now having won nine straight games, the last three against ranked squads (43-33 against Roland; 52-20 against Adair; and 46-35 against Muldrow). Inola will have its 4A district playoff on Saturday at home against Jay.
23. Owasso (18-5); last week (23)
Owasso enters postseason play on a five-game winning streak, scoring 82 points in its most recent game. The Lady Rams will now get to host a 6A East regional, and they'll be playing Muskogee in the opening round Tuesday.
24. Fort Gibson (18-5); last week (24)
Fort Gibson capped its regular season with six straight wins, punctuated by a tight 37-34 win at Verdigris earlier in the week. The Lady Tigers will be at home for their 4A district playoff on Friday, taking on Hilldale.
25. Broken Arrow (16-7); last week not ranked
The Lady Tigers are getting hot at the right time, having won 12 of their last 14 regular-season games. On Feb. 13, they clinched a home regional with a 45-40 win against Bixby. Broken Arrow will start a 6A East regional with a first-round game Tuesday against Enid.
