Playing on its home course gave the Banks boys golf team just enough of an edge to pull out victory at the OSAA Class 4A state championships Tuesday at Quail Valley Golf Course.

Banks shot the low round of the tournament, compiling a 326 total Tuesday to edge first-round leader Valley Catholic and Baker/Powder Valley by three strokes.

Banks finished with a 661 total for the tightest margin of victory since Crook County edged Marshfield by a single stroke for the 2016 title.

Tillamook junior Elliot Lee broke away from a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard after Round 1 to fashion a two-stroke victory over Woodburn junior Ty Beyer.

Lee shot a final-round 75, overcoming three bogeys over his final eight holes to finish at 4-over 148 and become the first Tillamook golfer to win a state title.

Beyer drew within two shots with a birdie on the par-4 No. 15, but he gave the shot back with a bogey on No. 16. That allowed Lee to survive one final bogey on No. 17 to pull out the victory.
