The 6A Oregon high school baseball playoffs continued Friday with quarterfinals action. Here's a look at some of the highlights.

Lakeridge 2, Sherwood 1

The Pacers grabbed a 2-0 lead and held off the Bowmen to get the victory at Lakeridge High School. 

Lakeridge, the top seed in the playoffs, took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when senior Beau Spiekerman hit a one-out double and ended up scoring on a sacrifice fly by junior Dawson Santana. The Pacers added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Senior Gus Rogers hit a leadoff triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Spiekerman. 

Lakeridge took that two-run advantage to the seventh inning. Sherwood sophomore Nolan Umlandt hit a two-out home run to center field, but Lakeridge junior pitcher Paul Wilson coaxed a game-ending fly out to wrap up the victory.

Wilson, a left-hander, threw a complete game, giving up the one run on two hits while striking out 12 and walking two.

Spiekerman went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Senior Zach Johnson added two hits for Lakeridge.

Sophomore Parker Fabrycki had the other hit for the Bowmen.

Lakeridge, which improved to 25-5, will play host to West Linn in an all-Three Rivers League semifinal Tuesday.

Sherwood finished its season 24-6.

West Linn 5, Sheldon 4

West Linn grabbed the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning and fought off the Irish the rest of the way to get the win at West Linn High School. 

Sheldon claimed a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning on a one-out single by junior CJ Franklin. The Lions answered in the bottom of the third inning, grabbing a 3-2 lead on a two-run homer by senior Kace Naone.

The Irish tied the score, 3-3, on a fielder’s choice grounder by junior EJ Peterson. Again, the Lions answered. West Linn scored twice in the bottom of the frame, with junior Drake Gabel having an RBI single, to grab a 5-3 lead.

Sheldon cut the lead to 5-4, getting a run on a sacrifice bunt by Peterson in the top of the sixth, but the Irish couldn’t get the equalizer, as West Linn held on for the one-run win.

Gabel and senior Spencer Sullivan each had two hits for the Lions. 

Sophomore Gabe Howard, pitching in relief, got the win on the mound. He gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out six and walking one in four innings. Gabel picked up the save, striking out all three batters he faced.

For Sheldon, senior Brody Spurlock went 2 for 3 with a triple and two runs.

West Linn, which moved to 23-7, will play at Three Rivers League rival Lakeridge in a semifinal game Tuesday.

Sheldon finished its season 16-13. 

Canby 1, Mountainside 0

Canby, breaking a scoreless tie in the top of the seventh inning, got the victory at Mountainside High School.

In the top of the seventh, Canby got a leadoff home run to center field by senior Clayton Langdale, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

Senior Joe Brauckmiller, coming in to pitch in the bottom of the seventh for Canby, put down all three batters he faced to wrap up the win.

Senior Jason Noffsinger, pitching the first six innings for the Cougars, gave up no runs on three hits while striking out one and walking one.

Langdale went 2 for 3 with the winning home run to lead the Canby offense. Senior Alex Evans had the only other hit for the Cougars.

For Mountainside, junior Austin Wolfe pitched seven strong innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out 11 and walking one. Senior Tyler Christiansen had two hits for the Mavericks.

Canby, which improved to 18-12 with its seventh consecutive win, will play at Clackamas in a semifinal game Tuesday.

Mountainside finished its season 22-7. 

Clackamas 6, Lake Oswego 1

The Cavaliers scored three runs in both the third and sixth innings on their way to victory at Clackamas High School.

Senior Trevor Wilson doubled in senior Caden Stevens with one out in the bottom of the third inning for the first run of the game. Junior Jake Brady scored on a wild pitch, and senior Nick Holm drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, giving the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead at the end of the frame.

Holm had the big hit for Clackamas in its three-run sixth inning with a two-run double. Holm scored on a double by senior Maurice Meyers, increasing the lead to 6-0.

Brady went 2 for 2 with two runs. Holm drove in three.

Senior Jackson Jaha turned in a complete-game performance on the mound for the Cavaliers. He gave up one run on seven hits while striking out eight and walking four.

For Lake Oswego, senior Asher Abreu went 2 for 3. Junior Grant Maxwell had a hit and drove in the Lakers’ run in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly. 

Clackamas, which improved to 26-4, will play host to Canby in a semifinal game Tuesday. Lake Oswego finished its season 15-14.
