The top-seeded Lions managed only one point in the opening period and could not overcome their slow start, falling to the third-seeded Timberwolves in the Class 6A Oregon boys basketball state championship game Saturday at the University of Portland's Chiles Center.
Josiah Lake scored 20 points (including 12 free throws), Jaden Steppe had 19 points with 10 rebounds, and Jayden Fortier added nine points and 15 boards to help Tualatin (24-5) claim its second consecutive crown.
Jackson Shelstad had a game-high 24 points and Max Juhala scored seven off the bench to lead West Linn (28-2).
The Lions — who are ranked No. 17 nationally by SBLive/Sports Illustrated — made only 2 of 19 three-point attempts and were outrebounded 37-23.
