The high school sports season has wrapped up in Oregon, so SBLive Oregon is looking back at some of the best high school athletes of 2022-23.

Over the next week, we'll be highlighting some of the top players in all classifications in volleyball, soccer, football, basketball, softball and baseball.

Here is the SBLive Oregon all-state girls basketball team.

First team

G Sofia Bell, Jesuit, senior

The McDonald’s All-American and Metro League player of the year led the Crusaders to the league title and a third-place finish at the 6A state tournament, capping a season in which the University of Oregon signee averaged 18.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.4 steals.

F Jazzy Davidson, Clackamas, sophomore

Davidson showed why she is the nation’s No. 2 prospect in the class of 2025, earning Gatorade player of the year honors for the second consecutive season while leading the Cavaliers to the program’s first 6A state title. She averaged 22.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks.

F Donovyn Hunter, South Medford, senior

The Panthers made it back to the 6A final after a nine-year absence thanks in large part to the efforts of Hunter, an Oregon State signee who won Southwest Conference player of the year and defensive player of the year honors. She averaged 18.4 points, 4.5 steals, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

G Danaeja Romero-Ah Sam, Springfield, junior

Romero-Ah Sam is a two-time 5A player of the year who led the Millers to their first state championship in the past 11 years. She went over 1,000 points for her career in Springfield’s 44-29 victory over Crescent Valley that avenged a loss to the Raiders in last year’s final. For the season, she averaged 16 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.1 steals.

G Kennedie Shuler, Barlow, senior

Shuler will join Hunter at Oregon State next season. The Mt. Hood Conference co-player of the year (she shared the honor with Davidson) helped lead the Bruins back to the 6A state tournament, where they finished fifth this year after reaching their first final in 2022. She averaged 18.3 points, 7.2 assists and 4.5 steals.

Coach of the year

Wes Pappas, Tualatin

Pappas took over the Timberwolves program four years ago after it had been through three consecutive losing seasons. He won 19 games in his debut season, and this winter, he led the Timberwolves to a 24-4 record — their first 20-win season in the past 13 years and their most victories since 2006 — the Three Rivers League title and their first trip to the 6A state tournament since 2009 while allowing a state-low 28.3 points per game.
