Oregon 6A football awards: Sherwood Bowmen named 'state's best defense'

A look at the top Oregon 6A football performances during the regular season

The Oregon high school football postseason has arrived, which means it's time to give out my regular season awards.

Best defense: Sherwood Bowmen

How could this award not go to the Sherwood defense?

The Bowmen didn’t give up a single point for seven straight weeks - Week 2-8 - and only gave up a touchdown in the season finale when the opposing defense scored on a fumble return.

In other words, Sherwood’s defense still hasn’t allowed a team to score since Week 1.

Senior Keaten Fried, junior Treyson Eddleman and senior Evan Morris are absolute stars having all-state-caliber seasons.

While Sherwood didn’t play the toughest schedule, and will almost certainly be tested in the postseason, its defense is going to open some eyes.

They've had one of the best regular seasons in state history!

Check out the other awards:

- Overall MVP

- Offensive player of the year

- Defensive player of the year

- Newcomer of the year

- Best offense

- Offensive lineman of the year

- Defensive lineman of the year

- Breakout underclassman

- Freshman of the year
