Oregon 6A football awards: West Linn's Josiah Molden earns Freshman of the Year

A look at the top Oregon 6A football performances during the regular season

The Oregon high school football postseason has arrived, which means it's time to give out my regular season awards.

Freshman of the year: Josiah Molden, West Linn Lions

How could it not be West Linn cornerback Josiah Molden?

Playing on the state’s most loaded roster, the freshman earned a starting spot out of the gate and played like an all-state candidate.

Molden is going to be nationally-ranked recruit as soon as 2027 lists start coming together and he may go down as the best cornerback in modern Oregon state history.

It’s really early, but Molden has legitimate “Sunday potential" - just like his dad, Alex, and brother, Elijah.

His development is going to a joy to watch over the next few years, especially because he's such a good kid and student of the game.

Expect Molden to be a defensive player of the year candidate each of the next three seasons.

Check out the other awards:

- Overall MVP

- Offensive player of the year

- Defensive player of the year

- Newcomer of the year

- Best offense

- Best defense

- Offensive lineman of the year

- Defensive lineman of the year

- Breakout underclassman
