Cheerleader kicks Oregon high school basketball player in head in pregame introductions (video)
An Oregon high school boys basketball player was kicked in the head by a cheerleader from his own team during pregame introductions before an OSAA state tournament game in Portland on Thursday.
Sentori Martino, a senior for Barlow High School, was jogging toward halfcourt after being introduced as a starter when a Barlow cheerleader caught him in the head with her feet as she finished a backflip. Martino immediately went down and lay on the court for several minutes. He did not play in the game.
Barlow went on to beat Jesuit 69-39 in the consolation bracket game. The Bruins played again Saturday morning, beating Grant 61-58 to win the OSAA Class 6A consolation championship. Martino did not play Saturday.
Martino is a two-sport star at Barlow. He was a first team all-league wide receiver and cornerback this past season and has committed to play football at Sierra College in California next season.
