Pennsylvania high school football playoffs roundup: Dallas, Peters Township, Northwestern Lehigh among state semifinal winners (12/01/2023)

The Pennsylvania high school football playoffs continued on Friday night with the state semifinals

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletics Association football playoffs continued Friday night with four teams remaining in each of Pennsylvania's six classes playing in the state semifinals.

There were 10 games were played Friday, Dec. 1 with two games still scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2.

Three of the six state champions from 2022 -  Belle Vernon (3A), Southern Columbia (2A) and Steelton-Highspire (1A) - picked up wins on Friday night and another remaining state champion from 2022 - St. Joseph's Prep (6A) - will play on Saturday.

In Class 4A, defending state champion Bishop McDevitt fell in double OT to Dallas.

Meanwhile, three state runners-up from a season ago also won, as Westinghouse (Class 2A), Aliquippa (Class 4A) and Imhotep Charter (Class 5A) picked up wins on Friday night, while Harrisburg (Class 6A) plays on Saturday.

Peters Township (Class 5A), Northwestern Lehigh (Class 3A) and Fort Cherry (Class 1A) also advanced to the state championship game with wins.

Friday's results set up state championship rematches from last year in one class -  Southern Columbia vs. Westinghouse (Class 2A). The Class 6A state championship game could also be a rematch with St. Joseph's Prep and Harrisburg playing their semifinal game on Saturday. 

The PIAA state championships will be once again held at Cumberland Valley High School from Dec. 7-9.

Class 1A – 1:00 p.m
Class 4A – 7:00 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 8th
Class 2A – 1:00 p.m.
Class 5A – 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 9th
Class 3A – 1:00 p.m.
Class 6A – 7:00 p.m.
