Pennsylvania high school boys basketball: Meet the state’s best point guards for the 2023-24 season
With fall sports in the rearview mirror, the high school basketball season is finally here.
SBLive Sports is highlighting some of the best players in Pennsylvania heading into the winter season.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a position-by-position look at some of the best of the best in high school boys basketball. To get things started, we’ll begin with the players who specialize in handling the ball.
Here are 20 of the best point guards in Pennsylvania entering the 2023-24 high school boys basketball season.

Aasim Burton, sr., Cardinal O’Hara
Burton averaged 13.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, five assists and 1.7 steals per game as a junior for Cardinal O’Hara. He recently signed with Division I Rider.
EJ Campbell, sr., Spring-Ford
Campbell is a senior leader for a young Spring-Ford team with lofty goals this winter. He is a three-level scorer who holds an offer from Rider.
KJ Cochran, jr., Perkiomen
A 6-foot-4 junior, Cochran is a point guard who can light up the scoreboard. The four-star recruit’s offers include Mississippi State, St. Joseph’s and Temple.
KJ Coles, so., Pocono Mountain West
Coles tied the Pocono Mountain West school record for 3-pointers made in a season with 68 as a freshman. He averaged 13.4 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Brandin Cummings, sr., Lincoln Park Performing Arts
Cummings averaged 23.1 points per game as a junior and made 73 3-pointers, shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc. The four-star Pittsburgh signee was voted 4A first-team all-state.
Jayden Davis, jr., Chartiers Valley
Davis crossed the 1,000 career points mark during his sophomore season for Chartiers Valley. He averaged 25 points and seven boards last winter.
Jordan Dill, so., Germantown Friends
Dill, already one of the best scorers in Pennsylvania, netted his 1,000th career point during his freshman season with Germantown Friends. He put up 21.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals last year in his second varsity campaign.
Luke Gennaro, sr., Hazleton
Gennaro is a true point guard who gets it done on offense and defense. He averaged 13.8 points and three assists as a junior.
Antwone George, jr., Conwell-Egan
George had a strong sophomore season in the loaded Philadelphia Catholic League, putting up 14.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, three assists and 2.8 steals. He is a physical guard and one of the best rebounders in the city.
Max Hurray, sr., North Catholic
Hurray averaged 23.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists last winter for a North Catholic team that reached the WPIAL 4A championship game. The knockdown shooter received second-team all-state honors.
Jayden Kelsey, jr., Westtown
The left-handed Kelsey has elite size for the point guard position at 6-foot-7. He already holds offers from Colorado and Towson.
Zach Kirk, sr., Octorara Area
Kirk is a versatile point guard who can put up plenty of points while also keeping his teammates involved. He was voted 4A third-team all-state as a junior.
Kyree Latimer, sr., Constitution
After experiencing a growth spurt, Latimer averaged 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and three assists as a junior. The 6-foot-3 guard gets it done at both ends of the court.
Jaron McKie, jr., St. Joseph’s Prep
McKie, a four-star junior, averaged 16.5 points per game a season ago for St. Joseph’s Prep. He earned 6A second-team all-state honors for his strong sophomore campaign.
Khaafiq Myers, sr., Neumann-Goretti
Myers, a 4A second-team all-state selection last winter, averaged averaged 11.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.3 steals as a junior. His Division I offers include Drexel, La Salle, UMass and St. Joseph’s.
Pace Prosser, sr., Berlin Brothersvalley
A small-school star, Prosser put up 23.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 3.1 steals as a junior for a Berlin Brothersvalley team that reached the 1A title game. He recently signed with Division II Gannon.
Josh Reed, sr., Archbishop Wood
Playing alongside five-star combo guard Jalil Bethea, Reed runs the point for Archbishop Wood. The Drexel signee averaged 9.2 points, five rebounds, and 2.6 assists last winter.
Tyler Sutton, fr., George School
Only a freshman, Sutton has been dubbed the best basketball prospect in Philadelphia since Kobe Bryant. Before playing a single high school game, Sutton already held offers from Iowa, Miami and St. John’s, among others.
Jake West, jr., William Penn Charter
A transfer from Archbishop Carroll, West is a quality ball handler who can attack the basket with ferocity in transition. The junior already holds multiple Division I offers.
Ian Williams, so., Archbishop Carroll
One of the lone returning rotation players from last year’s team, Williams averaged 9.7 points, 4.6 assists and four boards as a freshman. He is one of many talented underclassmen on an Archbishop Carroll squad with state championship aspirations.
