Pennsylvania high school girls basketball: Meet the state’s best wings for the 2023-24 season

Who are the top wings in Pennsylvania high school girls basketball this season?

With fall sports in the rearview mirror, the high school basketball season is finally here.

SBLive Sports is highlighting some of the best players in Pennsylvania heading into the winter season.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a position-by-position look at some of the best of the best in high school girls basketball. We started with point guards and combo guards, and now it’s the wings’ turn.

Here are 20 of the best wings in Pennsylvania entering the 2023-24 high school girls basketball season.

Ryan Carter, fr., William Penn Charter

One of the top freshmen in Pennsylvania, Carter already held offers from Arizona, Miami, Michigan and others before taking the court in a high school game. She is a skilled offensive player who is also a standout on the defensive end. 

Savannah Curry, sr., Westtown

Curry is a knockdown 3-point shooter who averaged 9.1 points per game last winter. A 3A second-team all-state honoree as a junior, Curry is staying home to play college basketball for Temple. 

Peyton Dincher, jr., Jersey Shore

Dincher received 4A first-team all-state honors as a sophomore after averaging 20.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 1.4 assists and 1.1 blocks. She is a versatile player who can run the point, bury 3-pointers and get buckets in the paint. 

Brie Droege, sr., Columbia

Droege is a skilled offensive weapon who can play multiple positions for Columbia. An East Stroudsburg signee, Droege put up 23.8 points per game last winter and was voted 3A first-team all-state. 

Alena Fusetti, sr., Blackhawk

Fusetti is capable of playing anywhere on the perimeter for Blackhawk. She averaged 17.4 points per game last season and was a 4A first-team all-state selection. 

Grace Galbavy, jr., Perkiomen Valley

Galbavy is a 6-foot junior who is a factor at both ends of the court. She averaged 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, two steals and 1.9 blocks last winter and was voted 6A second-team all-state. 

Erica Gribble, so., Greensburg Central Catholic

Gribble put up 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 steals a season ago for Greensburg Central Catholic, receiving 2A second-team all-state recognition. Her early Division I offers include Bucknell, Navy and St. Joseph’s.

Rylee Kalocay, jr., Upper St. Clair

Kalocay is an electric scoring threat who holds numerous Division I offers. She was voted 6A third-team all-state as a sophomore after averaging 19.6 points per game.

Lacey Kriebel, jr., Loyalsock Township

Kriebel averaged 14.9 points per game for South Williamsport last season and received 2A third-team all-state honors. Now at Loyalsock Township, Kriebel is an impact player on offense and defense. 

Olivia Kulyk, sr., Mercyhurst Prep

Kulyk is a two-sport star for Mercyhurst Prep who also plays volleyball. The NJIT basketball signee was a 3A third-team all-state pick on the hardwood last winter after putting up 19.7 points per game. 

Maddison Maynard, sr., Panther Valley

A three-sport athlete who also competes in volleyball and softball, Maynard is at her best on the basketball court. She was a 2A second-team all-state pick last year who averaged 22.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 4.1 steals. 

Jayden McBride, sr., Cathedral Prep

McBride is a versatile senior who can play inside and outside for Cathedral Prep. A Georgetown signee, McBride made 5A first-team all-state last winter after averaging 16.7 points per game.

Alivia McCaskell, so., Central York

Playing on a senior-heavy team last year, McCaskell filled up the stat sheet with 7.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.7 steals. Her role will be greatly expanded as a sophomore for Central York, which finished 25-5 a season ago. 

Allison Metzgar, sr., Cedar Crest

Metzgar is a two-way wing who can handle the ball and knock down shots from beyond the 3-point stripe. On defense, she excels on and off the ball.

Lauren Patnode, sr., Perkiomen

A 2A second-team all-state pick last winter, Patnode averaged 17 points per game as a sophomore. The talented scorer is a La Salle signee. 

Molly Rullo, jr., Cardinal O’Hara

Rullo averaged 16.8 points per game a season ago for Cardinal O’Hara and made 6A second-team all-state. The talented two-way wing recently committed to Drexel.

Julie Spinelli, sr., St. Joseph

Spinelli averaged 18.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.7 steals during her junior season for St. Joseph, receiving 1A third-team all-state honors. She will play college basketball for Frostburg State.

Faith Walker, sr., West York Area

Walker is a two-way hybrid player who can score, pass and defend. The 6-foot-1 standout is headed to Duquesne for college. 

Brooke Wilson, sr., Archbishop Carroll

Wilson averaged 11.3 points per game a season ago as Archbishop Carroll captured the 6A title. Wilson, an Army signee, was voted second-team all-state as a junior.

Madison Zavasky, sr., Pine-Richland

Zavasky put up nearly 20 points per game during her junior year for Pine-Richland. The 6-foot perimeter standout is headed to Indiana University of Pennsylvania after this season.
