Pennsylvania high school girls basketball: Meet the state’s best post players for the 2023-24 season
With fall sports in the rearview mirror, the high school basketball season is finally here.
SBLive Sports is highlighting some of the best players in Pennsylvania heading into the winter season.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a position-by-position look at some of the best of the best in high school girls basketball. We’ve already highlighted the point guards, combo guards, wings and forwards and will wrap things up with the biggest players on the court.
Here are 20 of the best posts in Pennsylvania entering the 2023-24 high school girls basketball season.

Colleen Besachio, so., Archbishop Wood
Besachio nearly averaged a double-double for Upper Dublin as a freshman, putting up 11.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.4 blocks per game. She transferred to Archbishop Wood for her sophomore season and is capable of playing a variety of positions, including post.
Quinn Boettinger, jr., Perkiomen Valley
The 6-foot-3 Boettinger is an unstoppable offensive player for Perkiomen Valley. She put up 16.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and two blocks as a sophomore.
Kelly Cleaver, sr., Union Area
A 1A first-team all-state selection last winter, Cleaver is coming off a season in which she averaged 15.4 points per game. The talented interior player is headed to Millersville University for college.
Evalyse Cole, sr., Easton
Cole put up 13.7 points and nine rebounds during her junior season for Easton. The Monmouth signee also led the team in assists at 3.8 per game.
Ava Darvassy, sr., Perkiomen
Darvassy is a strong interior scorer who can also knock down jump shots. She will play college basketball for SUNY Oneonta.
Layke Fields, jr., Kennedy Catholic
Fields was a double-double machine as a sophomore, putting up 19.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.5 blocks. The dominant post was voted 2A player of the year.
Kyla Fitzgerald, sr., Armstrong
Fitzgerald and senior point guard Emma Paul are the leaders for an Armstrong team with lofty goals this winter. Fitzgerald averaged 15 points per game a season ago.
Kaila Francis, so., Cedar Crest
Francis had a strong freshman season for Cedar Crest, averaging 10.5 points and 6.7 rebounds. She does most of her scoring from the paint but can hit perimeter shots.
Logyn Greer, jr., Friends’ Central
The 6-foot-3 Greer can play inside and outside for Friends’ Central. She averaged 15.2 points and 8.6 rebounds last winter and was voted 3A second-team all-state.
Liliana Harrison, jr., Lebanon
The 6-foot-3 Harrison is an impact player at both ends of the court. She put up 11 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks during her sophomore season for Lebanon.
Hope Hawkins, sr., Woodland Hills
Hawkins, who also plays volleyball at Woodland Hills, will see time at forward and center. She averaged 15 points per game as a junior.
Gianna Johnson, sr., George School
Johnson averaged 12 points, 8.2 rebounds and two blocks a season ago for George School en route to 5A second-team all-state honors. The 6-foot-5 center is a Delaware signee.
Addison Kilmer, so., Mountain View
Kilmer is a two-way force for Mountain View who made 1A first-team all-state as a freshman. She posted a triple-double in the state playoffs last winter, recording 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks in a win over Harrisburg Christian.
Anna Kreinbrook, sr., St. Joseph
Kreinbrook is a 6-foot-3 center who does most of her damage on the defensive end. She averaged a staggering 5.4 blocks per game last season while also putting up 5.3 points and 8.3 boards.
Rachael Manfredo, sr., McKeesport
Manfredo was productive as a junior, putting up 15.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.7 steals. She is also a strong rim protector who swatted nearly two shots per game.
Kaitlyn Mankins, sr., Greensburg Salem
As a junior, Mankins averaged 14.9 points per game from the center position. Mankins is headed to D’Youville University for college.
Lauren Palangio, sr., Norwin
Palangio put up 11.9 points and 7.9 rebounds as a junior and was voted 6A third-team all-state. The center will play college basketball for Holy Family.
Madison Siggins, sr., Parkland
Siggins is a multi-sport athlete who also competes in volleyball for Parkland. The versatile interior player will play in college for East Stroudsburg.
Oumou Thiero, so., Quaker Valley
A true point-center, the 6-foot-3 Thiero has the ability to run Quaker Valley’s offense. She lit it up as a freshman, averaging 12.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 steals and 3.5 blocks.
Natalie Wetzel, jr., Peters Township
The 6-foot-3 Wetzel is an inside-outside prunes for Peters Township. She averaged 18 points and eight rebounds as a sophomore and received 6A first-team all-state recognition.
