In an effort to shine a brighter spotlight on Washington high school basketball players, we are introducing our first-ever SBLive Boys Basketball Recruiting Rankings.

Our rankings are compiled by SBLive Basketball Analyst Dan Dickau based on observations and conversations with an extensive network of coaching and media sources across the country. The players have been evaluated through a college recruiting lens and analyzed in four categories: athleticism, ball skills, basketball IQ and upside.

Over the next few days we will continue to roll out our Top 25 players in Washington. You can find the full rankings at the bottom of the post.

Here’s a closer look at No. 4 on the list, Olympia senior Jackson Grant.

DICKAU’S ANALYSIS

ATHLETICISM: Many times players are judged only by "run and jump" in regards to athleticism. But timing, hands — especially in catching and finishing — and balance are often overlooked aspects of evaluation. With his length and timing, Grant is a tremendous rebounder and shot blocker to go along with really good hands and a soft touch. He will get stronger in time and this will help with his balance in holding position on the low block.

BALL SKILLS: Grant has very good shooting touch for a big his size. His range extends well past the 3-point line, which will put a ton of pressure on a defensive 5 in pick-and-pop or spacing situations. He has a good set of low post moves and can score with either hand and on either block.

BASKETBALL IQ: Grant has a really good feel for a big and it shows in his decisions of when to roll versus when to pop in ball screen actions. He has a good feel defensively in using his length and timing to block and challenge shots on the interior.

UPSIDE: Grant could become a dominant big in the Pac-12 for Washington as he continues to fill into his body. As the game continues to evolve and bigs find open space on the perimeter, it will suit him well.
