In an effort to shine a brighter spotlight on Washington high school basketball players, we are introducing our first-ever SBLive Boys Basketball Recruiting Rankings.

Our rankings are compiled by SBLive Basketball Analyst Dan Dickau based on observations and conversations with an extensive network of coaching and media sources across the country. The players have been evaluated through a college recruiting lens and analyzed in four categories: athleticism, ball skills, basketball IQ and upside.

Here’s a closer look at No. 3 on the list, Mt. Spokane senior Tyson Degenhart.

DICKAU’S ANALYSIS

ATHLETICISM: Degenhart has good length and tremendous balance on a frame that will add more strength and explosiveness. His hand-eye coordination is off the charts, allowing him to catch in traffic while his balance allows him to pivot into difficult finishes in tight spaces.

BALL SKILLS: Degenhart is a stretch 4 that can post as a 5 with the right matchup, and he has 3-man range and the ability to put the ball on the deck. Maybe the best thing about Degenhart is his versatility which will translate well to Boise State. The biggest thing for him to improve on is playing low on the perimeter to get by smaller, quicker defenders with the bounce.

BASKETBALL IQ: He has a tremendous feel for game and does whatever is asked of him to put his team in position to win. He has completely transformed Mt. Spokane basketball culture with his leadership and competitiveness.

UPSIDE: Degenhart committed to Leon Rice and Boise State early in the process because it was such a great fit. He didn't rest after his commitment and continued to improve. He has the potential to be a really good, possibly all-league type of player in the Mountain West.
