Brandon Baker, nation's No. 2 offensive tackle, 'loved every second' of Oregon Ducks visit
Class of 2024 Mater Dei (California) star Brandon Baker, the nation's No. 2 offensive tackle, is quite familiar with the Oregon Ducks football program.
His brother, Gary Baker, played for the Ducks from 2015-2019, and he's already taken several visits to campus.
So, the 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive tackle mostly knew what to expect from this weekend's visit for a night game against Stanford.
But the Oregon environment delivered, as Baker wrote that he "loved every second" of his trip.
"It was great - same vibes I get every time I’m back, family, home vibes," Baker said. "I thought everything went really good."
One of the aspects of a Mario Cristobal-led program that gets a lot of attention is the celebration of offensive line play.
The former offensive lineman-turned-head coach builds an O-line culture at his programs.
The Baker family experienced that first-hand during Gary's time in Eugene.
That culture still exists, according to Brandon, who feels Dan Lanning and Adrian Klemm have kept that vibe alive.
And possibly even improved it.
"I’d have to say Klemm bridged it really well - doing a great job with the O-line he has," Baker said. "I’d say it’s even (more) personal, along with Viane (Talamaivao)."
Next up for Baker, besides this weekend's match-up of Mater Dei and St. John Bosco, the nation's top two high school football programs, will be a trip to Ohio State.
"I'm trying to plan out a game to Ohio State," he said. "Ohio State has great tradition... excited to see what’s in store."
