A 6-star prospect? Oregon Ducks land nation's No. 1 kicker Grant Meadors
Special teams recruiting rankings are often obscure, and there aren't many trusted sources in the evaluation process.
However, Chris Sailer Kicking is the gold standard.
Their No. 1 kicker for the class of 2023? Liberty (Bakersfield, Calif.) athlete Grant Meadors.
On Wednesday, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound kicker announced his college commitment, choosing the Oregon Ducks:
Chris Sailer Kicking actually works on a 6-star scale, rather than the traditional 5-star model.
A 6-star kicker is considered an FBS Power 5 freshman starter and scholarship-worthy special teamer, as not all elite kickers and punters earn scholarships.
Meadors is listed as a 6-star prospect:
"Grant is a phenomenal high school kicking prospect. He is a tremendous athlete with one of the strongest legs in America. Grant does a excellent job on field goal. He hits a big time college level ball off the ground. Grant gets the ball up well and easily has 55+ yard range. His kickoffs are strong. Grant drives the ball deep into to the end zone with 4.0+ hang time. Also a more than capable punter. Grant is a big time competitor who thrives under pressure. He is kicking with great confidence. Grant has the tools to step on the field as a freshman and be an All-Conference type Kicker. He is a fine young man with a great attitude and work ethic. One of the hardest workers out there. Look for Grant to dominate his senior season picking up additional offers along the way. Keep a close eye on this talented athlete. Excellent prospect."
