Jaxson Jones, Washington Huskies edge-rusher pledge, receives Oregon, USC offers, planning visits
Yuma Catholic three-star edge-rusher and Washington Huskies pledge Jaxson Jones is red-hot on the recruiting trail.
Despite a commitment to Washington last month, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound defensive end/outside linebacker has only seen his recruitment intensify with recent offers from Notre Dame, Oregon and USC.
When Jones, a class of 2024 prospect, first committed to Washington, it was coming off a stellar visit to Seattle.
"I committed to Washington because from the start they were always attempting to build a bond and make a connection," he said. "They just made me feel like it was the best thing to do. On my visit the stadium, and just overall atmosphere is what got me. It was unexplainable."
Of course, Jones remains verbally committed to the Huskies.
But he also admits to having plenty of interest in his recent offers, including Oregon, which has made the state of Arizona a massive recruiting priority under the watchful eye of offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham.
"I’m excited," he said. "It’s another big one - just one of those ones every kid dreams of. Without a doubt me and my family plan to visit."
Perhaps nothing compares to the offer he received from the Trojans.
"That one just hit different," Jones said. "I grew up in California and always enjoyed watching them."
He has scheduled an unofficial visit for late November, and while he stopped short of calling it a game-changer, Jones had to admit it was an offer to consider.
"It’s definitely one to think about, you know, but I’ll do more of that on my visit," he said.
Jones is a West region prospect worth keeping an. eye on, as it has become clear the Pac-12 Conference is going to continue to fight to land him despite his verbal commitment.
