KJ Bolden, 5-star safety, visiting Auburn Tigers ahead of college decision
Buford (Georgia) five-star safety KJ Bolden is one of the nation's biggest prizes in the 2024 recruiting class.
The 6-foot, 185-pound playmaker is rated the nation's No. 1 player at his position and the No. 9 overall prospect.
On August 5, Bolden is slated to come off the board, announcing his commitment among a list of finalists that includes Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Ohio State.
For some time, Georgia has been the presumed favorite for Bolden's services, but Florida State has made a big jump in recent weeks and appears to be firmly in the mix.
They might not be the only late contender joining the fray.
This weekend, Bolden posted a picture at Auburn, given the Tigers a late chance to impress him and earn his verbal commitment.
“I’m definitely very interested in Auburn. Coach Freeze," Bolden told On3 before the trip. "I told him when I went up there, ‘Coach I’ve got to see if you can get an OV, I’m not sure yet.’ And he said if you give me and OV, just make sure it’s the last one. That’s how he makes things shake for sure, and I made sure he got that last OV."
It's been a huge week on the recruiting trail for Auburn, as it flipped a pair of five-star prospect - linebacker Demarcus Riddick (Georgia) and wide receiver Perry Thompson (Alabama).
Could the Tigers add a third five-star recruit this summer?
It seems feels as though Georgia leads the way ahead of Florida State, Auburn and the rest of the field.
But the race seems to be tightening late.
