Jaboree Antoine, nation's No. 3 cornerback, visiting LSU this weekend
The LSU Tigers are hosting a key visitors this weekend, as Westgate (Louisiana) four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine is making a return trip.
A 6-foot-1, 170-pound defensive back in the class of 2025, Antoine is rated the nation's No. 23 overall prospect, No. 3 cornerback and No. 2 player in the state of Louisiana, behind only St. Martin's Episcopal School running back Harlem Berry.
For the dynamic athlete, the return visit is a sign of his growing connection to the in-state program.
"As soon as I stepped foot in the facility I felt that family vibe and that’s exactly what it felt like talking with the coaches and getting to know everyone, Antoine said. "I feel like LSU is a great program. The amount of guys they have developed and gotten to the next level is really big (for me), and I feel like they would develop me for the next level... iron sharpens iron."
So far, Antoine's strongest connection is with safeties coach Kerry Cooks.
"My favorite moment is talking with Coach Cooks and watching my sophomore tape and play style, which is similar to where they would want me play," Antoine said. "He is great guy."
That may bode well down the road for the Tigers, who have done an excellent job with in-state recruiting of late.
In the current 2024 recruiting cycle, Brian Kelly's program has commitments from nine of the top 12 players in the state of Louisiana.
Will that trend continue?
Getting guys like Antoine comfortable on campus this early is certainly a step in the right direction.
