Texas Tech football lands coveted 5-star recruit

The Red Raiders picked up a commitment Monday from one of the top players in the country

Micah Hudson and Texas Tech had long been connected, so why not make it official?

The Lake Belton (Texas) wide receiver committed to Texas Tech on Monday, becoming the Red Raiders' highest-ranked commit in program history and their first ever five-star commit.

Hudson is the nation's No. 2 wide receiver and No. 9 overall recruit in the class of 2024, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot, 190-pound senior chose Texas Tech over Texas, Texas A&M and many others.

Texas Tech was already recruiting well in the 2024 cycle, as the Raiders had a top 30 class in the country prior to Hudson's commitment. With Hudson on board, Texas Tech now has a top 25 class nationally.

Hudson and Lake Belton played in an instant classic last week on ESPN, as Red Oak stunned the Broncos in an overtime thriller.

Hudson was named the District 4-5A D-I MVP as a junior after tallying 65 catches for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns.
