Kentucky Wildcats flip Smith twins from Michigan
The University of Kentucky and the University of Michigan haven't met on the gridiron in more than 100 years, but the Wildcats just beat the Wolverines in a major recruiting battle.
Four-star seniors Jerod Smith and Jacob Smith had been committed to play college football at Michigan since July, but the talented twins flipped to Kentucky on Friday.
The brothers announced their decision on the field after helping Corbin (Kentucky) pick up a win and improve to 4-0 this season.
Jerod Smith is the nation's No. 26 defensive lineman and No. 224 recruit overall in the class of 2024, per the 247Sports composite rankings. Jacob Smith is the nation's No. 19 edge rusher and No. 239 recruit overall in the senior class.
Adding the Smith twins bumped Kentucky up nine spots in the national team rankings for the 2024 recruiting cycle. The Wildcats currently have the No. 28 recruiting class in the country.
Behind four-star quarterback Cutter Boley, the Smith twins are the two highest-ranked commits for Kentucky in 2024.
Jerod Smith and Jacob Smith started out at Somerset (Kentucky) before attending Loomis Chaffee School (Connecticut) the past two years. The brothers moved back to Kentucky for their senior year, enrolling at Corbin.
Now they will be playing college football in Kentucky, too.
