Brandon Lockhart, nation's No. 1 cornerback, on Oregon ahead of visit: 'I like the Ducks a lot'

Loyola (California) five-star cornerback Brandon Lockhart is eager for his return visit to Oregon

The No. 10 Oregon Ducks host the No. 19 Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday in one of the most talked-about college football games in recent memory.

That buzz has generated national interest, and even recruits are feeling that energy.

Loyola (California) five-star defensive back Brandon Lockhart, the nation's No. 10 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the class of 2026, is planning to be in Eugene this weekend and feels the energy around the game.

"I honestly have no idea what to expect on Saturday," he said. "I can only imagine it's going to be crazy insane and an atmosphere I've only dreamed of playing in. I mean, I live for big moments, and I know this stage is going to be huge for both teams."

Still, the 6-foot-2, 165-pound cornerback has some understanding of what Autzen Stadium has to offer, as he's followed the Ducks closely over the past several years.

"I like the Ducks a lot," he said. "I've been watching them play since I can remember watching college football. I've watched them reach the top of the Pac-12, and I'm excited that they see me as a contributing member in the future of the program's growth."

In truth, most college football programs see Lockhart as that and more.

As a sophomore, Lockhart is already billed as one of the nation's most dominant defensive backs, and he has already generated double-digit offers that span from coast-to-coast, highlighted by Miami, Oregon, Penn State, USC, Utah and Washington.

It's still far too early to speculate where the California superstar will end up, but Oregon has a chance to make a big impressive.

Lockhart said it himself.

The stage is set.
