Oregon Ducks hosting surprise 5-star visitor this weekend: Report
It's been a five-star news month on the recruiting trail for the Oregon Ducks.
First, Salpointe Catholic (Arizona) five-star edge-rusher Elijah Rushing decommitted from Arizona.
He is viewed as a heavy Oregon lean.
Then, the Ducks landed Mater Dei (California) five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland on Saturday, as he chose Dan Lanning's program over Georgia and Miami.
According to On3, Oregon is now set to host IMG Academy (Florida) five-star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton this weekend.
The 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman is rated the nation's No. 7 overall prospect and No. 1 offensive tackle.
Seaton has recently visited Colorado, Florida, and Tennessee, and canceled a trip to Oklahoma.
While Oregon has been recruiting the IMG Academy star for some time, making his top 14 this spring, this weekend's visit is the first major piece of evidence the Ducks are making a serious climb to contend.
With Breland in the fold and Rushing potentially on the way, could the Ducks also find a way to pull off a late surprise and land Seaton?
Lanning has proven he shouldn't be counted out.
Stay tuned!
Here's what 247Sports had to say about Seaton in its scouting report:
"Has frame to play either guard or tackle at college level. Plays left tackle in high school and has legitimate size and length. ...High level athleticism combined with a nasty streak. Is physical and active with hands. Has forceful initial punch. Quick feet allows for impressive lateral movement. Has ability to sink hips and explode into defender. Brings ferocious attitude to line of scrimmage. Once engaged, drives his legs to push defender back. ...Athleticism shines when asked to pull. Uses proper footwork and gets into gap quickly. Excellent body control and can target linebackers in space. Uses lower body strength well, including to correct within rep. ...Scrapes and gets to second level. Has athleticism to get out and lead on screens. Has nice kick step in pas pro. Strong with initial punch and accurate with hand placement. Is patient in base and rarely reaches. Moves well laterally to handle speed off edge. ...Has to continue to remain focused and keep emotions in check during game. ...Can play early at Top 20 program."
