DeAndre Carter '100 percent committed' to Auburn following Texas visit

Mater Dei (California) offensive lineman DeAndre Carter reaffirmed his commitment to Auburn on Tuesday

The Auburn Tigers secured a mammoth commitment when Mater Dei (California) four-star offensive lineman DeAndre Carter announced his decision in early September.

After racking up more than 25 major scholarship offers, the 6-foot-4, 340-pound lineman elected to play in the SEC and chose Hugh Freeze's program.

But lately, the Texas Longhorns have made a major push, culminating with a recent official visit to Austin.

On Tuesday, however, Carter cleared the air, firmly establishing where he's at in the recruiting process.

"Excited to be headed to the Iron Bowl," he posted to social media. "Staying home. 100 percent committed to Auburn."

Carter is rated the nation's No. 123 overall prospect and No. 3 interior offensive lineman.

His value is, therefore, quite obvious.

But he holds special significance in Auburn's class, as he is not only the highest-rated offensive line commit in the group, he's the only one.

Keeping him in the fold was a massive priority for Freeze and his coaching staff.

So, Tuesday's announcement was probably met with celebration among the Auburn staff.
