Noah Carter high on Alabama; All-American Bowl edge-rusher planning visit
The coaching carousel has done a number of the recruiting classes and rosters at Alabama and Washington.
But things should settle down soon.
That's music to the ears of Alabama fans, who have seen a handful of stars enter the transfer portal, and several key recruits decommit.
One possible addition to watch closely in Tuscaloosa is Centennial (Arizona) All-American selection Noah Carter, the nation's No. 8 edge-rusher.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defender signed with Washington during the early signing period in December, but has announced his decommitment and reset his recruitment.
That move is even more noteworthy after Carter's stellar performance during a week of All-American Bowl practices in which he was one of the standouts.
Here's what 247Sports had to say about his big Day 2:
"During the morning session, the 6-foot-3.5, 218-pounder was nearly unblockable during 1-on-1 reps, utilizing his explosive first step and impressive change of direction to keep opposing offensive tackles off balance. It would not shock us in the slightest if Kalen DeBoer and his staff use Carter as a situational pass rusher early on in his career... before eventually earning an every-down role..."
However, the DeBoer-Carter connection may move from Seattle to the South.
Following DeBoer's departure to Alabama and Carter's decommitment, he received an offer from the Crimson Tide.
That proved to be a big one.
"(It's) definitely a blessing," Carter said. "It’s one of the best programs in the country, if not the best and they develop NFL legends."
While the bluechip prospect still has some paperwork to resolve, he expects to be cleared to take a visit to Tuscaloosa soon.
So, does he see Alabama as a place he could send the next several years?
"Yes sir, I do," Carter said. "It would be great to play against the best of the best."
Both Alabama and Washington are experiencing significant roster losses in the wake of coaching changes, but as those begin to slow additions should follow suit.
Carter is a name to watch for Alabama fans.
