Tory Blaylock, bluechip Texas running back, cuts list to 6
Atascocita (Texas) four-star running back Tory Blaylock isn't considered a top-100 prospect nationally.
But it seems college football programs may view him differently.
The speedy 5-foot-11, 190-pound ball-carrier has accumulated more than 40 scholarship offers during the process.
As a junior, Blaylock showed off his versatility, accumulating 616 yards and 11 touchdowns rushing with an additional 268 yards and three scores as a receiver.
After trimming things down to 13 early, Blaylock has made another significant cut.
This time to six: Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas:
It's a significant cut for the Texas back, and would seem to indicate his decision is growing a little closer.
Who is the team-to-beat?
Oklahoma emerged as the favorite following a Junior Day visit earlier this year, and Blaylock speaks highly of the staff.
“Coaching staff is like a family," he told On3. "Got a lot of love for coach Venables and Coach Murray. Coach Murray has been at the level of play I want to be at and I feel he can get me there and also build me up as a man off the field.”
Blaylock, the son of former NFL'er Derrick Blaylock, is a track star as a sprint and also recently repped 225 pounds 19 times on the bench press.
So, the pedigree, speed and strength are present.
Where will he end up?
Watch out for the Sooners, but perhaps another one of his finalists can make a push.
