Oregon Ducks lock in official visit for 5-star defender
Zephyrhills (Florida) five-star defensive back DJ Pickett is one of the nation's most coveted prospects in the class of 2025.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound athlete is rated the nation's No. 7 overall prospect by 247Sports and the nation's No. 4 overall prospect (No. 1 cornerback) by On3.
Pickett has also accumulated more than 40 scholarship offers, but has whittled down his options to five - Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan and Oregon.
Unsurprisingly, the next step in Pickett's process is scheduling his spring/summer official visits.
This week, the versatile five-star defensive back officially locked in his trip to Eugene, setting an official visit for June 21-23:
Pickett has previously visited Eugene, so he likely knows what to expect.
Still, Dan Lanning and his coaching staff will be afforded the opportunity to formally roll out the red (or green?) carpet for the Florida star when his visit is official.
After signing its best-ever recruiting class in the previous cycle, Oregon's early 2025 haul consists of five pledges and is rated No. 14 nationally.
However in terms of "rating per commit," the Ducks sit at No. 7 (93.48) - just slightly behind Alabama (93.6), but ahead of programs such as Notre Dame (90.66), LSU (94.18) and Clemson (93.38), who make up the top three in the overall rankings currently.
