Jerome Bettis Jr. commits to Notre Dame; Recruiting class sits at No. 1 nationally
Like father, like son.
Former NFL legend and Notre Dame alum Jerome "The Bus" Bettis was one of the most physical runners to ever tote the rock.
The 5-foot-11, 252-pound bruiser had the physical prowess to deliver as much punishment as he received during his 13-year NFL career (1993-2005).
His son, Jerome Bettis Jr., has an entirely different body type, but the same NFL dreams.
Woodward Academy (Georgia) athlete Jerome Bettis Jr. is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver/safety and has racked up more than 20 scholarship offers during his recruitment.
On Sunday morning, however, he put an early end to the process, announcing he would follow in his dad's footsteps with a commitment to Notre Dame:
In truth, the Fighting Irish were always going to be tough to beat in the recruiting process as soon as they offered, which actually transpired almost one year ago.
At the time, Bettis Jr. was blown away to receive the opportunity to attend his father's former school.
"It feels amazing," he told SBLive Sports. "I’ve been around the program since I was young, and so for them to extend to me an offer... it means everything."
Bettis is rated the nation's No. 83 wide receiver, and. chose the Irish over offers from Arkansas, California, Louisville, Missouri, North Carolina State, Ole Miss, Purdue, Texas A&M and others.
He is the 18th commitment in a 2025 Notre Dame recruiting class that sits at No. 1 nationally, according to 247Sports.
